"Welcome" from the Director

It has been a very exciting and time of growth for Multicultural Programs over the past four years and I am proud to have been involved in that process and see this year's class of students walk across the stage with such pride. I am also looking forward to the next four years. We have some great students here who have the ability to change the world and I look forward to assisting them with this process. It is my goal that as students will feel comfortable to learn and interact with every person in the Maryville Community regardless of title or status.

College is an exciting time of life for everyone. Each person brings, ideas, expectations, beliefs and values to campus.  In the Multicultural Programs Office we are here to empower students to explore and recognize their values and the human values of the individual and distinctive groups represented in our community.

This year the Office will focus on three primary learning outcomes that define an Office of Multicultural Programs as stated by the CAS standards. Appreciating Diversity, Leadership Development, and Clarifying Values are the areas Multicultural Programs will focus on when working with students, faculty, staff and other areas on campus. I look forward to the individual interactions and the group experiences created from the programming that is to come.

If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

The Office of Multicultural Programs promote academic and personal growth of traditionally underserved students and assists the university in becoming an academic community where people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities are understood and valued by providing educational activities for the entire campus community.

The office develops and implements programs, activities, and services designed to enhance the quality of life for Maryville University students while enriching the campus community by providing meaningful and thought provoking multicultural programs. The Office also coordinates cultural enrichment activities between Maryville University and the St. Louis community. We collaborates with others to design programs that encourage formal and informal cultural dialogues while providing opportunities to experience culturally enriching topics that will assist Maryville University in becoming a more heterogeneous academic community. Finally we provide support for students of various cultures to create an inviting supportive social and academic environment.
